Tesla Motorcars: These things can move.
Up until high school, my only frames of reference for the word Tesla were the Tesla coils I used to build in Command Conquer to zap my enemies into oblivion.
Then, thanks to the History Channel, I was introduced to one of the great scientific pioneers of our time, Nikola Tesla.
And now, what I presume to be in his name/honor, a group of serial entrepreneurs from Silicon Valley have put together, and are finally starting to roll out, high performance electric powered sports cars.
The Tesla motors flagship, the Tesla S super-sedan, is a marvel of engineering and design. It’s got a fully functioning one-screen touch center consol. You read that right, fully functioning 17-inch touch screen with 3G connectivity, as your central consol.; how sweet is that?
The full range of features includes seating for 7, and a luxurious interior design using materials that rival the most expensive conventional luxury sedans. The battery power is substantial as well, and allows range packs that can take you 160, 230, or 300 miles on a single 45-minute charge.
It performs as well. This thing is built and touted as an electric supercar, and it makes no concessions when it comes to engine power. The Tesla S goes from 0-60 MPH in 5.6 seconds, and has a top speed of 121MPH.
Tesla Motors is leading the way and showing the world that electric/environmentally viable motorcars don’t have to look like armadillos and ladybugs, and can push some serious power as well.
Not to be too speculative, but we’re sure Nikola would have been proud to sign his name to these magnificent vehicles.
