Video Games aren’t Meant to be Cardio

I play FIFA 2011 on my gaming console because I DON’T want to be outside running around!

I don’t know about you guys, but one of the most satisfying feelings for me after a hard day’s work (or even a hard day’s sloth), is flopping down on my couch/bed/chair, firing up the old PS3, and diving into the virtual world that is video gaming. I don’t mind the occasional jump and flutter out of my chair/bed/couch to celebrate a sweet kill, or trick myself into thinking I’ll have better concentration if I’m standing, with my eyes about 5 inches from the illuminated plasma. I do however, mind having to be in workout clothes to enjoy video games. I do mind breaking a sweat playing Mario. I do mind having to exert actual physical energy to play a VIDEO GAME!

Now don’t get me wrong, I’m certainly not striving to be this guy, but I must say I enjoy my video games in the more traditional manner. Yes, I want to shut off my body, turn on my brain, and only use my fingers for hours of mindless entertainment. It is my right as a free American. In the meantime, you have fun with your Kinect, Move, and Wii…I’ll stick to sweet headshots from the comfort of my couch.
